27 Rethinking Things

Rerading Time: 2:30

I didn’t post a blog last Monday, so we are skipping to number 27. I had a lot going on, but I was also considering discontinuing posting these each week. I don’t really know if anyone actually reads them. I’ve had no response at all to the last 25 posts. This can be disheartening. I think most people are attracted to social media and no longer frequent an organization’s website.

That being said, I will make a decision over the next few weeks as to whether I will continue investing the time to write and post these brief blogs.

We found the same thing regarding our video posted on You Tube. It seemed to have an impact, but when you actually studied the data, people were only viewing a portion of the messages posted there. Frequently as little as three minutes of each video were actually viewed.

I want to use every opportunity to reach others, but sometimes I feel we may be deceiving ourselves in thinking online platforms really minister to people. In my life, there are few online ministers I would take the time to watch. Actually, I can name them on one hand. Instead I find it far more productive to spend time in God’s presence and minister to people face to face, one at a time.

It’s really part of my personality. In group settings I do not struggle to stay in midst of the conversation. Often what is being discussed does not interest me because I feel people are speaking for their own benefit. not the benefit of others.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths,
but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs,
that it may benefit those who listen.”

Ephesians 4:29 NIV

So maybe as I rethink my outlets for ministry, I ought to consider whether it’s something that I want to do or something that I need to do. Also, I believe in either case, my weekly online activity is going to greatly decrease in the future. I think there are more productive ways to spend my time and effort.

So help me out. If this blog or other online ministries from Calvary help you, then let me know. In want to truly focus on what is useful and beneficial to others. I don’t really need another outlet to speak, I do it every week from the pulpit.
