Pouring It In, Pouring It On

I’ve delayed writing this blog this week because of a few things. One, Susan and I have just returned from another great District event where Dr. Dave Williams was the guest speaker (I’ll write more about that in a moment). Two, several people in our church have been scheduling surgeries and/or they are in the hospital. We are visiting them and devoting ourselves to prayer for their recovery. Three, Pastor Jeff from Winchester and I are working in Portland to transfer Banner Christian A/G from under his covering to ours. So we will be overseeing the church in Portland during their time of transition. Pray for them.

This all makes for quite a busy, but effective, week. We have a concert here Saturday night with The Stevens Family and Pastor Keith Taylor will be with us in our evening service on Sunday night. It seems like a lot of activity, but we must keep the pace. God is breaking through in our church and now is not the time to slack off and pursue other interests. My heart is overflowing with praise for his goodness, mercy, and direction. He is about to show up to a very warm reception of expectant people.

Pouring It In

I have determined that I am going to stay full of his Spirit and take every opportunity to allow others to pour into my life. This latest immersion in the things of God came through Susan and I attending the Area Ministers Meeting in Avon, Indiana at Crossroads Church A/G. The District invited my favorite speaker back to Indiana to minister to smaller settings of our Assemblies of God Pastors here in Indiana. In this setting we actually got to personally talk with Dave Williams and share our appreciation of his ministry and the books he publishes through Decapolis Publishing. Susan and I support his ministry, Strategic Global Outreach, on a monthly basis. He was honestly touched by how his ministry has helped us and our church.

Pastor Jeff Bullard and his wife, Dawn, were with us at the meeting. I think they also now have a great appreciation for Dr. Williams. He sat with Pastor Jeff and talked deeply with him and his wife. The ministry Bishop Dave poured out filled every crevice of my heart. Although I have heard many of the things he ministered before, each word was new, fresh, and anointed. It refilled and confirmed things he has ministered to me before through his preaching and through his books, many of which we distribute here at Calvary.

Along with this time of refreshing and infilling, I am looking forward to Sunday night when Pastor Keith Taylor from Cross Tabernacle in Terre Haute will be with us to minister on prayer. We are beginning to build a culture of prayer ministry here at Calvary. Once again God has called us into a season of prayer. The seeds have been planted and we are beginning to see tender sprouts of growth. Sunday night the fertilizer is going to be poured into our hearts and those seeds will blossom into a wave of life-changing prayer that will change us, our families, and this community forever.

In the same way we need to keep pouring things into our lives, we need to keep pouring it on for the Lord. God wants us to be busy about his work in our families and in our community. We constantly need to seek new ways to reach out to our families, friends, and coworkers each and every day. We must not allow ourselves to become unfruitful in kingdom work.

Pouring It On

In November Calvary will once again a have a great speaker, the regionally known Pastor of Rochester First Assembly, Pastor Richard Crisco. Initially I was intimidated to call and ask him to come to Calvary, but after having spoken to him, I realized it was one of those “God things.” He worked with me to probe my heart and find out why God was telling him to come. the words were finally made clear in the theme for this event, The Value of Volunteers, here at Calvary on Sunday, November 3rd at 7:00 PM.

Pastor Crisco will raise our volunteer leadership to a whole new level of commitment and excellence. This caused me to see beyond our walls and realize other Pastors and other churches need this same kind of ministry. So I am inviting local churches and Pastors to join us in this great night of ministry along with our area Assembly of God churches.

Finally, the main reason for pouring it IN and pouring it ON is that God has called Calvary to be a church of regional influence. That means extra work, extra time, and extra money. God supplies all of those things when we begin to press into that area of ministry for our entire region. We are beginning to reach beyond our walls into the walls of local businesses, churches, homes, schools, and wherever there is a need for more of God. May his presence invade every area of our lives.

Even more wonderful things are going to be announced in the upcoming weeks. Be sure to stay focused and press in and press on for the Lord.

“I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
