When Good Gets Better

We had Jeorgene Gaddy back to minister at Calvary Sunday, February 22nd. It was the National Women’s Ministries Day of the Assemblies of God and I asked her to read Kerry Clarensau new book A Beautiful Life and minister from it to our ladies. She was willing to do that and so much more! I thank God for believers who hear and respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit. She spoke boldly about the sacrificial life Jesus has called us to and challenged our people to rise to the task of reaching out to our community. It was a mirror of the work I have been doing at Calvary, equipping and encouraging our people to reach those around them with the love of God and the power of the Spirit.

The altar call progressed for some time. It has been a while since we have had a service last until 1:00 PM. However, you could feel God in it and people patiently prayed as people at the altars were prayed over by Jeorgene. Some received confirmations of what God was already speaking to their hearts. Others received words that they will have to chew on for a while to embrace the fullness of what God is speaking to them.

All in all it was a great time in the house of the Lord. Pastor Mike and Angie were with us in the morning service, under adverse circumstances. A water line broke at their church and they had a major clean up to do. We are praying for a complete recovery and they will be back in business by next Sunday. They are a very hard working couple and are doing a wonderful job of leading the church in Portland. They went with us after church when we took Jeorgene to lunch at Pizza Hut. We had a great time of fellowship with them.

Pastor Mike and Angie joined our worship team while they were here and it added so much to the atmosphere of praise. There definitely was a greater level of excitement than we have had recently. Pastors sometimes envy the response other ministers get when they come in. However, the role of a Pastor is feeding the sheep, week in and week out. I thank God for these other gifts too, because it takes them all to keep us lifted up and pressing forward.

I am so sorry for those who could not be with us because of the threatening weather. I am positive they would have received much from Jeogene’s ministry. Jeogrene is a great asset to the body of Christ so we must be mindful to pray for her protection and provision as she grows in the grace and gifting of the Lord.

I too got some additional revelation from Jeorgene’s ministry and her prayer over Susan and I. One, of course, is that we are still not ready to launch out into the harvest fields. Two, we are on the verge of the next great thing God is going to teach us about his manifested presence. Three, we need to dedicate ourselves more to prayer than we have in the past. These words from the Lord have already been felt at Calvary, but the additional confirmation is necessary for me to focus on them and invest in preaching along these lines. May God’s leading and manifestations increase until his will and his way are made clear to us all. Until then, let us remain busy doing the things we already know to do. Our community awaits.
